About C Me Thru

C Me Thru is an album of cover songs by Alphaville, originally a German synth pop group and still going strong today with lead singer Marian Gold.

When I was around 10, I immediately loved “Big In Japan” which I happened upon on a compilation LP belonging to my parents, and I remember trying to record the intro on a casette deck built into the Hi-Fi over and over, trying to make my own extended version of the song.

Fast forward around 27 years, and the music I’ve created with this album is something I never dreamed would have been possible when I was younger, thanks to software synthesisers and USB pianos to capture every press from the keys. Creating this album pushed my capabilities – not only the diversity and mechanics of the songs – but also my vocal range!

The songs in the album itself are not perhaps what you might expect. This album and these covers aren’t the obvious choices. These are songs that  the real Alphaville fans would know and appreciate.

If you are one of them, this album is for you.

Marian and everyone in Alphaville past and present, still with us on earth or making music in heaven, this is dedicated to you. Thank you for the music.

About Astral Euphoria

I’ve always loved the electronic instrumental genre, taking inspiration from musical greats such as Jan Hammer, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and many more. With Astral Euphoria I wanted to create an album a listener could get lost in. Repeating patterns surround slow but deliberate build-ups, pleasing chord progressions, and thoughtful melodies.

About New Reality

New Reality is primarily a synth-heavy album, comprised of not only a mix of genres, but even a mix of decades. Inspired by my love of the 80s, bands like Alphaville, Pet Shop Boys, OMD,  artists like Chris de Burgh, and indeed newer inspirations including The Killers, who themselves claim inspiration from their own childhood heroes.

“Close Your Eyes, Keep on Dreaming” was the only song in the album where the lyrics were written in 2023, and the second-newest, “We Are The Free” was written in 2021.

The remainder of the songs were primarily written in the early-2000s, around 2006 and 2007 when I first started tinkering with song writing, using a mixture of synths and guitar to produce my songs, which I now reflect upon as very early demos of what was some day to become the basis for the album. Yes, lyrics were slightly adapted to reflect certain life situations, but maybe only a single line or two per song were affected. The rest remain untouched, a time capsule into my thoughts and experiences from almost 20 years ago.

Even the album headliner, “New Reality” was written in late 2006 albeit with a different tune in mind and was originally titled “One Word” with the refrain in the original lyrics “One Word, for the Sake of Love” which truly cements the Alphaville / Chris de Burgh inspiration. My “Synthwave Mix” included in the album seemed to be a no-brainer, with it’s over-accentuated 80s sound – a genre I can only describe as imagining 80s music based only on how others would describe it to you.
